Architecture Overview
EqualLogic Solution's self-managing iSCSI storage area network is affordable
and easy to use. You can automatically move data as you work online. Online expansion, automatic
configuration, load balancing, performance optimization, and advanced software functionalities
are built into EqualLogic's architecture. As you increase the data capacity, move data between
storage tiers, or organize your network storage, you will experience no downtime. Most management
peer storage tasks are handled by the array, not the administrator.
What is meant by “peer” storage architecture? It means that you can collaborate
with your peers and work together on a single storage architecture where components and arrays work
together to share resources and distribute loads while having total data protection and seamless
scaling. EqualLogic's iSCSI storage architecture enables the array to perform numerous functions
as it eliminates complexity for the end user. The peer control feature enables the array to
continuously monitor resources and automatically manage configuration, load-balancing, capacity
expansion, storage pools and tiers, volume snapshots, and replication. EqualLogic's iSCSI storage
architecture allows for online data expansion and peer protection (system monitoring) without
disruption. System monitoring includes proactive disk drive scanning, group event notifications,
multi-pathing, instant recovery, and disaster protection.
With EqualLogic PS series, you can buy the amount of storage you need today
and readjust the amount of storage as you go without disrupting any business operations. The best features are: fault tolerance, fully redundant, hot-swappable components (including disks,
controllers, network interfaces, power supplies, and cooling fans), self-tuning, battery-backed,
